eBay Merchant Integration Platform

Turning merchant operations into self-service.

The Problem

Merchant operations needed a self-service model

Large merchants managing extensive inventories and multiple warehouses needed feed-based tools for products, availability, distribution, and order fulfillment. The existing white-label service relied on eBay assistance with configuration specifications and feed transformation.

My Leadership & Ownership

Interaction and visual design within the redesign

I contributed to the Merchant Integration Platform UI redesign, collaborating with the product manager on concepts and detailed screens. The goal was to make the platform understandable and usable without the same level of manual assistance, for both smaller businesses and large merchants.

The Model

Setup tasks and ongoing operations, not scattered pages

The redesign organized fragmented navigation into five clearly labeled sections. Getting Started made configuration, business policies, and feed uploads visible as a set of tasks.

Key Product Decisions

Flexible onboarding with visible progress

The previous sequential setup showed signs of users dropping off mid-flow. The proposed guided-task pattern let merchants complete sections at their own pace while retaining orientation. The homepage also needed to explain the platform’s value simply.

Scaling the Experience

A consistent structure for feed management

The design extended the navigation model across upload and download management, product feeds, advanced options, reports, and settings.

Make operational states and setup actionable

Grayscale concepts supported discussion with the product manager before detailed visual designs. The screens below preserve the original onboarding flow, separate from any claim about shipped performance.

Impact

A design direction for self-service merchant operations

The source material demonstrates a clearer navigation and onboarding approach. It does not establish a measured reduction in drop-off, operational effort, or adoption.

What This Enabled

One product model across setup and ongoing use

The design brought setup progress and feed operations into a shared structure, making the proposed self-service experience concrete for product discussions.
